Participants develop and explore aspects of teaching methodology and techniques, and learn to assess and utilise a variety of teaching aids and resources. At the end of the course, all participants receive a certificate of attendance and a Teachers of English Course Certificate. We offer this course in Brighton, Eastbourne, San Francisco and New York.

The main elements of the course are:

  • Language development
  • Background to language learning and teaching
  • Different methodologies for teaching
  • Classroom management and practical teaching skills
  • Lesson planning
  • Teaching aids and resources
  • Observation of experienced teachers

These courses are designed to be very flexible, and can be adapted to suit the specific needs of the participants. Your level of English should be at least level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages to take part. (This is equivalent to FCE, IELTS 5, TOEFL computer-based score of 173).

Teaching Knowledge Test - TKT

The Cambridge TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) is an award for English language teachers. The test aims to increase teachers' confidence and enhance job prospects by focusing on the core teaching knowledge needed by teachers of primary, secondary or adult learners, anywhere in the world. The TKT can be taken at any stage in a teacher's career, and is also ideal for those who have not yet started teaching. We offer the TKT Preparation Course in Brighton.

The TKT comprises three modules:

  • Module 1: Language and background to language learning and teaching
  • Module 2: Lesson planning and use of resources for language teaching
  • Module 3: Managing the teaching and learning process

All TKT candidates will be automatically entered for Module 1, and can then choose the number of additional TKT modules they wish to prepare for. Candidates will prepare for the test(s) through input sessions and directed study, and will take them during the final week of their course.
